The new CEO of managed-care company Cigna Corp. received a pay package worth more than $15 million last year.
That's more than double the 2009 compensation total for David Cordani, who took over as CEO at the start of 2010.
The leader of the fourth-largest health insurer based on enrollment received a $1 million salary, a performance-related bonus totaling more than $7.3 million and stock and option awards adding up to $6.7 million.
Cigna also paid more than $48,000 for the installation and operation of a home security system for Cordani.
The AP calculation is based on a regulatory filing. It aims to isolate the value company boards place on CEOs' total compensation packages. It includes salary, bonus, incentives, perks and the estimated value of stock options and awards.
