Wind turbine manufacturer Vestas says John Deere Wind Energy has placed a 90-megawatt order for 50 wind turbines.
Vestas American Wind Technology Inc. says its Colorado factories in Windsor, Brighton and Pueblo will make components for the turbines, which are for the Michigan Wind II project near Minden City, Mich.
Vestas Americas President Martha Wyrsch says Vestas is supplying turbines designed to produce large amounts of energy with low to medium wind speeds.
The contract announced Tuesday includes delivery, commissioning and 10 years of service and maintenance. A dollar figure wasn't disclosed. Vestas says delivery is scheduled for mid-2011.
The contract doesn't affect Vestas' financial projections for the year.
