RI approves road repairs, bus fleet upgrades

Rhode Island voters have approved millions of dollars to improve the state's roadways, bridges and bus fleet.

They passed ballot Question 3 on Tuesday, giving the state permission to issue $80 million in bonds and notes for highways, roads and bridges. Some of the money will match federal funding and other dollars will directly go for the repairs and upgrades.

The question also allows the state to issue $4.7 million in bonds and notes to buy or rehabilitate buses for the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority.
