JetBlue Airways Corp. said on Friday that its June traffic rose 10.9 percent as it flew fuller planes.
JetBlue said it flew 2.47 billion revenue passenger miles in June, up from 2.23 billion in the same month a year earlier. A revenue passenger mile is an industry metric accounting for one paying passenger flown one mile.
Capacity rose 5.8 percent to 2.93 billion available seat miles, from 2.77 billion in June 2009.
Occupancy rose 3.9 percentage points to 84.2 percent.
For the first half of the year, JetBlue traffic was up 8 percent to 13.6 billion revenue passenger miles. Capacity rose 5.8 percent to 17.11 billion available seat miles. Occupancy rose 1.7 percentage points to 79.5 percent.
JetBlue shares rose 14 cents, or 2.5 percent, to $5.81 in afternoon trading.
