Vail Resorts acquires Mountain News Corp.
BROOMFIELD, Colo.
Vail Resorts Inc. has bought the operator of OnTheSnow.com, which offers online snow reports, information and deals on ski resorts around the world.
Vail Resorts didn't release terms of its deal to acquire Mountain News Corp., which also operates MountainGetaway.com and provides snow reports to about 400 news Web sites.
Mountain News Publisher Rob Brown plans to retire. But global managing director Chad Dyer will continue to oversee its operations, and Craig Altschul will continue as global editor-in-chief of the Web site.
Mountain News plans to keep its offices and staff in Orinda, Calif.
Broomfield, Colo.-based Vail Resorts says its businesses will remain separate from Mountain News operations, including editorial content.
