Starbucks names new consumer products president

Starbucks Coffee Co. said Tuesday that it has appointed Jeff Hansberry as president of the company's global consumer products group and foodservice.

Starbucks has being putting a heavier emphasis on its consumer products business to help round out its business model after a huge expansion of its retail business led to major job cuts and store closures. The company has recently launched a new flavored coffee for home brew and instant coffee lines.

Hansberry worked most recently for E&J Gallo Winery, where he was vice president and general manager, and previously worked at Procter & Gamble.

He assumes the new role in June and will report to Chairman, President and CEO Howard Schultz.

Shares of Starbucks fell 33 cents to close at $26.58.
