Kroger rose $1.00 or 3.4 percent, to $30.36.

Safeway unchanged at $23.94.

Supervalu rose $.09 or 2.1 percent, to $4.09.

Whole Foods Market Inc. rose $.81 or .9 percent, to $86.30.
