NEW YORK (AP) — Shares of some top coal companies were down at the close of trading:

Arch Coal fell $.15 or 2.1 percent, to $7.02.

Consol Energy Inc. fell $.46 or 1.4 percent, to $31.76.

Peabody Energy fell $.62 or 2.4 percent, to $25.36.
