Eaton Vance declares quarterly, special dividends
BOSTON (AP) — Investment management firm Eaton Vance Corp. on Tuesday declared a quarterly dividend of 20 cents and a special dividend of $1.
The quarterly dividend will be paid Dec. 20 to shareholders of record on Dec. 17.
The firm also will pay the special dividend on Dec. 20, but to shareholders of record on Dec. 14.
Eaton Vance said the special dividend will not have an effect on its net income but will reduce its earnings per share by 2 cents in the first quarter of fiscal 2013 due to accounting requirements.
Eaton Vance joins numerous companies paying regular dividends and special dividends before the end of the year so that shareholders will not be hit by higher taxes on the payouts that could take effect at the start of 2013.
Shares of Eaton Vance slipped 23 cents to $31.77 in afternoon trading.
