General Electric Co. rose $.31 or 1.5 percent, to $21.20.

Snap-On rose $.35 or .5 percent, to $77.39.

Stanley Works rose $.34 or .5 percent, to $69.06.

Whirlpool Corp. rose $.85 or .9 percent, to $98.20.
