NEW YORK (AP) — Shares of some top gold companies were up at the close of trading:

Barrick Gold Corp. rose $1.02 or 2.7 percent, to $39.49.

Gold Fields rose $.22 or 1.9 percent, to $12.07.

GoldCorp. rose $2.75 or 6.7 percent, to $43.82.

Newmont Mining Corp. rose $.98 or 1.9 percent, to $53.56.
