American Express Co. rose $.21 or .4 percent, to $55.44.

Capital One Financial Corp. rose $.30 or .5 percent, to $59.97.

Discover Financial Services rose $.02 or .1 percent, to $39.85.

Mastercard fell $5.18 or 1.1 percent, to $449.36.

Visa Inc. rose $1.06 or .8 percent, to $137.55.
