NEW YORK (AP) — Shares of some top tools and appliances companies were mixed at the close of trading:

General Electric Co. fell $.02 or .1 percent, to $22.79.

Snap-On rose $.35 or .5 percent, to $71.85.

Stanley Works rose $.41 or .5 percent, to $76.49.

Whirlpool Corp. rose $1.27 or 1.5 percent, to $83.84.
