Patterson rose $.35 or 1.0 percent, to $34.54.

PerkinElmer fell $.02 or .1 percent, to $30.06.

Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. fell $.02 or percent, to $59.72.

Varian Medical Systems Inc. fell $.45 or .7 percent, to $61.26.

Waters fell $.20 or .2 percent, to $84.81.
