Using Clicks to Get inside Bricks

It's the next wave in e-retailing--letting customers use the Net to find and buy products in brick-and-mortar stores. Here's a sampling:

CIRCUIT CITY
Its Express Pick-up lets users search real-time inventories at up to three stores at once.

OFFICE DEPOT
Customers can check in-store availability of an item over the Net--but the most recent listing is for 8 a.m. By yearend, the retailer will feature up-to-the-minute product availability.

SIMON PROPERTY GROUP
It's assembling a system that allows users to do Web searches for products at retailers inside the company's 257 malls.

GENERAL GROWTH PROPERTIES
In June, the company will let online shoppers select in-store items in a given shopping mall, and arrange for pickup or delivery.
