BE GREEN, SAVE GREENEnvironmental consciousness doesn't have to cost more. In fact, green office habits can actually save money. Through its Green Lights and Energy Star programs (www.epa.gov/smallbiz/), the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency offers info on energy-efficient office equipment that can cut electric bills by as much as 50%. David Bolduc paid off his 1991 investment in special lights for his Boulder (Colo.) bookstore in three years and is upgrading again. ''Utility rates keep going up, but our bill just keeps going down,'' he says. A quarterly newsletter from Earth Share, a federation of nonprofit groups (800 875-3863), gives regular tips on recycling, alternative products, and how to improve office air quality.
