DIGITAL DETENTE IN PC-TVsTHE BATTLE OVER DIGITAL television now moves from the corridors of Washington to American living rooms. On Nov. 25, warring broadcast interests and computer companies struck a government-brokered deal on a new digital-TV standard meant to simplify development of products that are part personal computer, part TV. ''This convergence is not only inevitable but imminent,'' says Microsoft Senior Vice-President Craig Mundie.
