The Basics Of Banking By PC

What are the standard features of PC banking?

Users can obtain account balances, transfer money between accounts, see which deposits and checks have cleared, and request stop payments. The more robust programs offer direct payroll deposits to employees and pay bills electronically.

Is it secure?

Yes. An authorized user must first enter a series of pass codes before gaining access to financial information. Then the user dials into a private, dedicated line to download data.

How much does PC banking cost?

There is usually an initial software setup fee of around $50 and an average monthly charge of $15 to $50. Some banks, such as Citibank and Bank of Boston, have waived all fees.

Will banking and accounting software mesh?

Most banking programs interface with popular accounting software so users can transfer files between them.

What kind of technical support is available?

All banks offer technical support during regular business hours. A few provide help 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Will the PC banking program work with Windows 95?

If it doesn't now, it will soon. Many programs are DOS-based, but are converting to Win95.
