Aug. 26 (Bloomberg) -- In this episode we look at new frontiers in the region’s race to deveop energy resources.
“New Frontiers” looks at how Myanmar plans to develop its oil and gas sector as its economy opens up to global markets. We were the first television crew ever to visit a remote village that has developed if very own low-tech oil industry, exploiting its resources in the same way for the past 100+ years. We contrast that with the international oil and gas majors scrambling for a piece of Myanmar’s reserves.
In this episode we also explore how Laos plans to utilize its vast hydropower potential – in the face of staunch opposition from some of its neighbors – to become the battery of Southeast Asia. (Source: Bloomberg)
