Market Basket Employees Protest Firing of Their CEO Play

Aug. 8 (Bloomberg) -- About 12,000 employees and customers of the Market Basket supermarket chain are seen demonstrating in the parking lot of a company store in Tewksbury, Massachusetts, on Aug. 5 in support of former Chief Executive Officer Arthur T. DeMoulas. On June 23, Arthur S. Demoulas, whose side of the family controls 50.5 percent of shares, fired his cousin, whose side controls 49.5 percent, and replaced him with two co-CEOs. Since then, the nonunion workers have held four rallies and crippled the business, leaving shelves unstocked at the chain's 71 stores. (Source: Bloomberg)
