Inside Bombardier’s $3.5B, Decade-Long Jet Gamble Play

Sept. 25 (Bloomberg) –- It takes more than $3 billion and the better part of a decade to design, develop, build and launch a new mid-size passenger jet. But Canadian firm Bombardier finally managed it, albeit months behind schedule. As the 170-seat C-Series made its maiden test flight over Montreal, Bloomberg asks whether it will shake up the sizeable narrow-bodied mid-range jet market that has been dominated by Airbus, Boeing and their subsidiaries.
