Manufacturing in N.Y. Shrank; U.S. CPI Unchanged Play

Aug. 15 (Bloomberg) -- The Federal Reserve Bank of New York’s general economic index unexpectedly fell to minus 5.9 in August, the first contraction in 10 months. Separately, the cost of living in the U.S. was little changed in July for a second month, Labor Department figures showed.
