HSBC Says `Cautiously Optimistic' on China Economy Play

Aug. 1 (Bloomberg) -- Qu Hongbin, co-head of Asian economic research at HSBC Holdings PLC in Hong Kong, talks about the outlook for China's economy and central bank monetary policy. China’s manufacturing teetered on the edge of contraction in July, signaling a rebound in economic growth has yet to take hold. The official Purchasing Managers’ Index unexpectedly fell to 50.1 in July from 50.2 in June while HSBC's PMI rose to 49.3 from 48.2.
