June 7 (Bloomberg) -- A Bloomberg Government study details the U.S. government dependence on independent contractors to help meet economic, security and social challenges. In 2011, the U.S. government hired 141,262 contractors spending $532.6 billion, an amount larger than the gross domestic products of more than 150 countries. (Source: Bloomberg)
