Dec. 1 (Bloomberg) -- John Betz, port pilot for the Port of Los Angeles, talks with Bloomberg's Christopher Palmeri about his job guiding ships in and out of the city's port, risks associated with boarding the vessels and the salaries of the pilots. Los Angeles’s highest-paid city employees get three-day weekends, 27 vacation days annually and an ocean view from their work place.
