Samsung Does Android With I7500 Smartphone

When’s the first Samsung Android-powered smartphone coming? The standard refrain from the folks at Samsung recently has been “soon.”
In Europe, at least, that timeframe has been narrowed a bit further. The world’s second-largest cell phone maker announced it will begin selling its I7500 smartphone in June (no word on which carriers, however).
It looks tricked-out with enough mouth-watering features to make techies drool. At 11.9 millimeters thick, it features a 3.2-inch AMOLED 480p touch screen, 7.2Mbps tri-band HSDPA 3G wireless and WiFi connectivity. There’s a 5 megapixel digital camera, 8 GB of onboard memory and support for all the major video and audio formats.
This model appears to be closely integrated with Google services, with no word in the press release on whether Samsung did any additional tuning to offer its own interface on top. Users will get access to Google Mobile services, , including Google Search, Google Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Google Calendar, and Google Talk.
Looks like folks in the U.S. will have to wait a little longer to hear whether Samsung has snagged any carriers for a slate of Android-powered phones it plans to release later this year as well.
