Greetings from Austin, Texas. From now through Tuesday, I’ll be posting updates from the South by Southwest Interactive festival being held in the conference center here in downtown Austin. What started as a small music festival in 1987 has morphed into an annual cultural summit on music, film, and technology. I’ll be attending panels and taking interviews with executives and developers from major Internet players like Facebook, Google, and MySpace, and scouting out the hottest up-and-coming startups pitching new products to a town full of leading experts.

Check back to this blog for updates throughout the weekend. I’m also covering the event through these digital media sites:

-Twitter for live discussion of panels and informal analysis
twitter.com/dmac1

-Vimeo for three-minute videos with thought leaders and entrepreneurs attending the event
businessweek@sxsw channel

-Business Exchange for a collection of all of my posts from SXSW as well as those from other media outlets
SXSW (South by Southwest) topic

-Flickr for a gallery of photos that will be updated at the end of each day
businessweek@sxsw photostream

-SCHED for a schedule on panels and parties I’m attending
dmac1’s schedule

Also, my colleague Reena Jana will be joining me in Austin on Monday and Tuesday. She’ll be posting innovation and design updates to the NEXT: Innovation Tools & Trends blog.

Stay tuned for upcoming video interviews with Lawrence Lessig and Loic Le Meur. And please, share with me anyone you’d like to see interviewed and any questions you’d like answered in the comment section below.
