Apple has just sent out email invitations for a media event next Tuesday, Sept. 9, at the Yerba Buena Center for the Art in San Francisco. And since September is the traditional month for iPod announcements, and because the invitation is headlined “Let’s Rock,” it seems a safe bet that new iPods are in the offing. A revamping of the entire line, including a new iPod Touch, seems likely.
Apple, however, scheduled the event with typical lack of consideration for those of us who are expected to attend. We’re already torn between two conferences, DEMOFall and TechCrunch 50. The TechCrunch folks have it easier since the conference is in another part of San Francisco, while DEMO is several hundred miles south in San Diego.
I'm sure they'd be happy to remove your name from the invitation list and save the ink and postage for another journalist who would love to come.
[acknowledging now the post said it was an "email invitation"...taking the wind out of the sails of my snarky reply.]
this seems likely. i work at a best buy and we have not been getting any shipments of ipods for a few weeks now we are almost completely out of stock and we normally have a giant cabinet full of them at all times. so they have probably stopped making the old ones in prep. of new ones
That new iPod 128GB touch with front and back screens will be sooo sweet!
Bloggers aren't real journalists anyways, that's why he got an email invite.
I am excited to see what Apple will come up with next. I agree that it is time to revamp the iPod product line.

When the stock is up and everything looks good, some think they can get away with the arrogance of I call you come on my terms.
Apple and Steve needs to think about what happens if something goes wrong and he needs the support of not only the big guys but the small ones as well.
Me, no way I would drop everything.
