NYTimes.com Is Down Back Up

Posted by: Arik Hesseldahl on August 05, 2008

A friend in Michigan just wrote to say she noticed that The New York Times Web site is down. I just checked, and it’s down for me as well.

Below is a screen grab taken just moments ago. One can’t help but be reminded of an incident in 1998 when a band of hackers who called themselves “Hacking For Girlies” attacked the site, they said because they were bored and couldn’t agree on a video to watch. The crime has never been solved.

Update: As of 6:27 PM the site appears to be back up. I wasn’t the only one to notice.
