T-Mobile USA: Android Coming in Q4

Posted by: Olga Kharif on May 05, 2008

Lately, I’ve been hearing that excitement over Google’s Android may have fizzled. Well, not at T-Mobile USA.

Neville Ray, senior vice president of engineering at T-Mobile USA, told us today that the company plans to put out “a new device” running Android in the fourth quarter of this year.

What I want to know is, when is Sprint Nextel coming out with an Android-enabled phone? And what about other Android supporters, NTT DoCoMo, KDDI, China Mobile, Telefonica and Telecom Italia? We’ve not heard any updates on these carriers’ plans for a while. If Android-enabled devices are to make a splash in the fourth quarter, all these carriers have better start making some noise soon — or Android doubters will continue to have a field day.
