Watch Ads, While Charging Your Phone

Posted by: Olga Kharif on March 17, 2008

A reader recently flagged an interesting company. GC Media puts cell-phone charging stations at hotels and airports that can juice up 18 mobiles and iPods at a time. While their phone or music player is being charged, for 15 minutes or so, users can watch ads on the charging station’s 17-inch monitor.

This sounds like a great way to serve up ads. Customers get a useful service for free. And while their attention may wander, they are bound to watch some ads while making sure no one pinches their phone while it’s being charged.
