Why Did You Purchase an Unlocked iPhone?
Posted by: Olga Kharif on February 01, 2008
As we wrote recently, as many as 1 million iPhones may have been unlocked worldwide by the end of 2007. Consumers have snapped them up even though Apple voids warranty on unlocked devices. People have purchased unlocked iPhones even though the gadgets sell for as much as 70% above Apple’s list price. Reasons for that are, of course, numerous: Some people want to have the latest and greatest gadgets. Others discovered that the iPhone isn’t available from a carrier in their country.
What was your reason? And did you find it difficult to track an unlocked iPhone down? I’d love to hear from you! Please be sure to also drop me an e-mail at olga_kharif@businessweek.com.
