Strangers as Friends on Facebook

Posted by: Rob Hof on August 14, 2007

What is it about Facebook that people will “friend” complete strangers, even providing their phone numbers? I’m not yet sure, but it’s clear that the service has somehow managed to set up a place that feels like home even if it isn’t. And I’ve noticed that’s true even for older people who should probably know better.

Why is that older people keep going on about facebook? It's an online community, it's great, it's nothing to be scared of and shock horror, older people get to use it too!
Facebook is more for existing friends than making new ones, as no details about a person are available, unless you become 'friends' on facebook. Unlike Myspace, full of bands and charlatans trying to add one for their own commercial gains.
I'm sick of seeing facebook stories and weary, boring comment, just shut up and use it!
