Many people have been asking why it has taken Yahoo! so long to find a new chief financial officer to replace current CFO Sue Decker, who moved up in last December’s reorganization to head Yahoo!’s advertising efforts. That search has now ended with the appointment of Blake Jorgensen, cofounder of Thomas Weisel Partners. I don’t know anything about him. And while it’s a key appointment, I think the bigger deal may be that Decker can now devote all her time to making sure Panama gets Yahoo! back in the search ad game with Google and moving beyond that to shore up its display-ad business.
Now the question is: What’s taking so long to fill the top job in Yahoo!’s Audience group, the other key vacancy since the reorg?
