Make or Break for Web 2.0 Startups

My colleague Heather Green points out in a new story something I’ve always wondered when I hear how cheap it is to start a Web company today: If it’s so easy, won’t there be so many rivals that eventually it will cost more to rise above the noise, more to hire engineers in such a competitive environment, and so on? Sure looks like it. And that could mean that not even Google’s AdSense can keep many Web 2.0 companies out of the TechCrunch DeadPool.
