Joost, the new Web TV service from founders of Skype, just launched to much fanfare. I’ve signed up for its Beta test, but, for some odd reason, the program wouldn’t run on my computer (my PC adhered to all requirements states on Joost’s site). Have a lot of other people encountered problems with the Beta? And if you were able to download and run the software, what did you think of the service? Thanks for your feedback!
Seriously - I think Google spoiled the whole 'beta' experience.
We are now getting used to that "beta" means a fully functional program with a cool beta-tag on.
It is supposed to be for a test purpose and it is supposed to have errors...
You are probably running VISTA right? or w2k or some other win OS. Joost is currently only stable for XP.

I've gotten Joost running at my home, but it doesn't seem to connect to any content at the office. I suspect that it's a Firewall issue in the office, which is sort of surprising, since Joost is built on similar technology as Skype, and Skype works behind anything.
Be sure to read the FAQs about how much bandwidth it consumes, and how you need to properly "disconnect", as it may overrun your Internet broadband limits, or chew up a lot of PC CPU cycles in the background.
I've been testing Joost on a DSL line and it works great. Full screen quality is good with most of the current content, and some of it has near-DVD quality. It changes channels and programs almost instantly. Click on my name below to read more.
