Missed this a couple days ago, but if you love celebrity gossip, check out WeSmirch.com, described as an “automatic dirt digger.” It’s not exactly my thing, but Memeorandum founder Gabe Rivera did note at an SDForum event tonight that it has one thing going for it: more pictures of better-looking people than his other two sites, the politically oriented Memeorandum.com and the indispensible tech.memeorandum.com, which have recently added photos (including mine the other day, I’m sure to their everlasting regret). Here’s the onsite description of We Smirch:

WeSmirch distills the lastest buzz from popular gossip blogs and news sites every five minutes.

All articles are selected via computer algorithm, vividly demonstrating that computers have a very long way to go before actually accomplishing truly intelligent work.

Celebrity gossip is the hottest thing on the blogosphere now. The first bloggers were the tech geeks, then the political afficionados and now that mainstream USA is catching onto to the blogs, it's celebrity dirt. Gabe does a really good job with the new site. It would be great to see a site that only focuses on business/stock news.
