I just got a sample survey from NewsTrust that indicates the news rating service will launch a pilot site in January. The group, headed by Fabrice Florin, claims test results show that citizen reviewers can judge the quality of articles as well as journalists. When I wrote about it last April and May, I thought it was a commendable idea, and I still do. But I think it’s going to take a lot of work and a lot of time to prove itself out, especially in these polarized times. So it goes with anything worthwhile.
