Another day, another real estate Web site. The latest entry: Frontdoor.com, by Scripps Networks. They’re the folks who bring us the cable network HGTV.
As if the countless remodeling shows aren’t enough, Scripps has created Webisodes for its new site. These include: Savvy Woman Homebuyer, where real estate broker, attorney and author Tara-Nicholle Nelson breaks down buying a first home for “savvy and asset-minded women” and Cool Houses Daily, which every day looks at three available homes with a common theme.
The site provides real estate listings info too. There’s even REwrap, a two-and-a-half minute recap of the most important real estate stories of the day. We will all be watching “TV” over the internet someday. Cable television stocks could be the next to crash, after the homebuilders.
BusinessWeek editors Chris Palmeri, Prashant Gopal and Peter Coy chronicle the highs and lows of the housing and mortgage markets on their Hot Property blog. In print and online, the Hot Property team first wrote about the potential downside of lenders pushing riskier, "option ARM" mortgages and the rise in mortgage fraud back in 2005—well ahead of many other media outlets. In 2008, Hot Property bloggers finished #1 in a ranking of the world's top 100 "most powerful property people" by the British real estate website Global edge. Hot Property was named among the 25 most influential real estate blogs of 2007 by Inman News.
