Honest Abe Goes to Vegas

Posted by: Chris Palmeri on November 12, 2007

The big annual convention for the National Association of Realtors kicks off tonight in Las Vegas. Among those scheduled to perform at the four day conclave: comedian Bill Cosby, singer James Taylor and football coach Lou Holtz. The Realtors could use a little breather. Through the end of September home sales were running about 19% below the level of last year.

The scheduled panels reflect the current business climate. Among them: Evolving Your Company In A Changing World, Ten Steps To Success In A Softer Market and Marketing Without Money.

The Realtors celebrate their 100-year anniversary this year. I expect they’ll survive for another century. As if to emphasize that point, historian Doris Kearns Goodwin is addressing the group on Thursday. She’ll speak on Leadership Lessons From Abraham Lincoln.

James Taylor? Is NAR trying to make the mortgage bankers look like hipsters? They got Bono to speak at their convention last month.

Doris Kearns Goodwin sure works the lecture circuit. She spoke at MBA Boston, too.
