Glass Foreheads

I realize that giant windows above the front door are the height of fashion in some circles, but to me they always look like glass foreheads.

I picture a person having a window where the forehead ought to be.

Here are two examples I saw over the weekend.

Behind most of these impressive windows is a two-story grand foyer with a sweeping staircase and some kind of balcony or passageway on the second floor. Which means that people can see into your second floor from the street, which kind of creeps me out. Unless you have blinds drawn, which kind of defeats the purpose of having the grand window
in the first place.

Glass panels and sky-lights are more hassle than they are worth. Not only do they have to be kept clean but we had a house with a skylight and it raised the electric bill sky high in the summer.

These are hideous and a blight on the American landscape. They are the epitome of McMansions, which to me doesn't mean gigantic, but cookie cutter, ugly and completely without any sense of style. And to think, these things will be hanging around for ages.
