McCain's Town Hall Meeting Invite is Cagey

Posted by: David Kiley on June 6, 2008

Even Fox news commentators said the GOP nominee’s speech Tuesday night was dreadful. In a fairly pipsqueak voice, the AZ Senator repeated, in his attaacks on Barack Obama, “That’s Not Chanage We Can Believe In.”

McCain was very smart to invite Obama to a series of Town Hall meetings this summer, and I especially liked the touch of suggesting they fly together to save energy. But perhaps the smartest take I have heard on why McCain suggested the Town Hal meetings: Appeearing with Obama is the only way to guarantee a big crowd for a McCain appearance.

McCain sounds like a one trick pony to me. He seems only able to talk about the war in Iraq. He goes on and on about how well it's going. He must be looking at another set of information then the rest of the country. Does he not know anything else about this country, like the horrible economy, or the price of energy rocketing up? Does he have any ideas about what to do about anything that doesn't require bombs or killing? He might be worse than what is in the White House now. That would be hard to imagine.
