MSNBC Reverses Course on Gun Ad

Posted by: David Kiley on April 21, 2008

MSNBC changed course, and has agreed to run an ad produced by Mayors Against Illegal Guns, a group created by New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg. MSNBC had found the ad to be too “controversial.” The ad simply shows the three presidential candidates making commitments to close “gun-show loopholes” and then various mayors of both parties calling for them to be closed.

A barrage of e-mails and phone calls to the cable network seemed to have an impact on its decision.

News, opinions, inflammatory meanderings and occasional ravings about the world of advertising, marketing and media. By marketing editor Burt Helm, Innovation Editor Helen Walters, and senior correspondent Michael Arndt.
