As I watched Hillary and Bill Clinton offering the veep post Barack Obama, even though Obama is ahead in popular vote and delegates, I was trying to rememember what this reminded me of. Then it came to me.
Remember the episode of Seinfeld when George Costanza, who was out of work, strategized to just “show up” for a job he didn’t yet have. His idea was that he would occupy the office while the hiring executive was away for a week. “By the time he gets back, I’ll be ensconced.”
This was the episode in which Costanza worked on the “Penske file” for a week, transferring the contents of one file into a new accordian-type file.
Clinton may ultimately get the nomination. But to float Obama as a number-two at this stage strikes me as a bit Costanzaesque.
