File this under one of the things that drives me crazy. But making any definitive statements using Alexa numbers seems reckless to me. Sorry for repeating, but Alexa so far hasn’t discussed details about its panel, so we have no idea how many people or even what kind of sample this represents.
Is YouTube bigger than MySpace in terms of overall share? Maybe, according to Alexa data.
Both YouTube and MySpace are growing at a rapid rate, and both have some interesting drivers that are increasing exposure. MySpace’s social network system fits easily into the younger crowd and is finding rapid adoption. In addition, it gets a promotional boost in the media every four of five months because of mischief among members. Conversely, YouTube is growing at a rapid rate because of their viral ability to spread content. The page has a much wider demographic and can appeal at some level to almost all people. If YouTube isn’t larger than MySpace now, it will be soon.

Hey Brian,
I agree that they are both growing. I just wouldn't use Alexa as the way to prove that YouTube is bigger than MySpace. People self select to use the toolbar. They dont have a representative sampling of the Web, so you can't use them to make these kinds of overarching calls.
