On this weeks’ BW Cutting Edge podcast, I caught up with Andrew Baron, the co-founder of Rocketboom, to talk about how the transition at the video blog is doing (Post the very public split with former co-founder and host Amanda Congdon).
Andrew talks about the challenges of recreating the show on the fly with the new host, Joanne Colan (a former MTV DJ). And he explains, in a deja vu moment, that he found Joanne through an ad on Craigs list. That’s exactly how he found Amanda nearly two years ago. Andrew, who describes this as the most difficult moment in his life, describes how the team at Rocketboom 2.0 is working to create a context that works for the show, just as he and Amanda worked in the first few months to find the right rhythm.
And with the emphasis on getting the show up and running, Andrew’s pushing the business development to the side for the moment.
Good luck to Amanda, she'll do well, but we think Andrew and his new hosts will as well. There's a world of entertaining talent out there, and the Web and digital media, plus other tech, have made it possible to now seem them (for good or bad) TasteTV.com
