Sony BMG Does Online Syndication with Brightcove

Posted by: Heather Green on June 19

Brightcove today announced that Sony BMG Music Entertainment is using its ad and distribution platform to dish up music videos, interviews and live performances across a network of artist and label sites through a new service called Musicbox Video.

The service also comes with RSS tools and embraces sharing by allowing people to embed the videos on their blogs or Web sites a la YouTube.

It’s a good example of how a traditional media company is adapting to the new world of distributing creative works widely. It’s also a continuation of the record labels’ attempts to ring up new revenue streams beyond selling music, since Sony BMG plans to sell ads, starting off with DreamWorks HP.
