Equitrekking, a company that produces TV series about—ok, you guessed it—horses, has launched its own video channel online using Brightcove’s technology. If ever there was ever a niche, this has to be one: People who like horses and who like going on vacation in exotic places to ride horses. The definition of Micro Net TV.
And why not? The company already films loads and loads of video and then edits that down into half-hour shows for TV. How better to use that leftover film than putting it online and maybe even syndicate it to other sites….
Of course with so many companies creating microniches, who is going to help us make sense of them, and know what’s new?
who's going to help us make sense of them and know what's new? you are.
This business model seems really smart: the overhead's low, the job entails filming in faraway exotic lands, and - oh the audience demographics...
Nice site. It's a niche, but not so much that only a few can relate. Seems to be a bit of the "normal" travel stuff in there too. Rollin', rollin', rollin', keep those doggies rollin', rawhide!
Anyone know of a site that collects and informs the world of micro tv goings-on?
gorgeous scenery in the clips, i'll have to catch the show
Can't seem to find the show - any ideas where it airs and whether wider distribution is forthcoming? What a great idea...
I emailed the company. A series in HD will be national on PBS in 2007.
I've been following Equitrekking's progress for over a year. What an inventive group! The site gets better & better. I saw one of their broadcasts in Albuquerque mid-March. These are guys to watch.
