Current TV Gains Ground with Comcast

I missed this yesterday, but Current TV, which I’ve written about in the past, took a big step forward by signing cable company Comcast as a distribution partner. Current’s the new TV channel that former Veep Al Gore launched to democratize TV. The idea? Get viewers involved in creating programming for the channel, by submitting their indie videos or video blogs.

The deal expands the channels overall distribution to 28 million houses, up from 20 million. That’s definitely important, because most analysts say a channel needs to reach at least 50 million homes to be able to make it long term and attract advertisers.
