Podcast with Clear Channel's Evan Harrison

Posted by: Heather Green on January 18, 2006

Evan Harrison, who heads up Clear Channel’s Internet unit, is the guest this week on BW’s podcast on the business of podcasting.

Evan says podcasting isn’t a fad. It’s part of the on demand world that Clear Channel has to adapt to. As part of a revamping of its online strategy under Harrison, Clear Channel has has more than doubled to 450 the number of local stations that offer online radio. And 6.5 million podcasts have been streamed or downloaded by the 80 stations offering these shows.

I have to be honest that I listened to this one ready to get mad at my iPod and laugh. But, I was very surprised to hear that this guy completely "gets it" and understands the power of the medium and how to use it.

But, they've got a ways to go since things like their Stripped website don't even have feeds on them. I listen online all the time because I think it's a great idea, but if I could download and listen to them like real podcasts it would be even better.
